The trees are coming! The trees are coming! The RRDS is expecting massive amounts of trees to be sold!
Each spring we bring native forest tree species into the Rainy River District and sell them at a little above cost to encourage folks to plant and grow more trees. We contract to germinate about 10,000 donated forest tree seeds a year with a commercial nursery in Dryden. These trees are sold from mid-May to June of each year.
We will have one or more tree sale days at locations in the community such as the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre or the Rainy Lake Market Square. Tree species available in 2022 will be White Spruce and Red Pine. In previous years, we have also sold Eastern White Cedar and Bur Oak trees grown from seeds collected locally.
Supplies are Limited
White Spruce and Red Pine seedlings will be sold in bundles of 20 for $5.
Schools and other institutions may be eligible for donations.
